Dele Alake is a Nigerian journalist, activist and politician. He was formerly the confidant/communication adviser of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and also a commissioner for information & strategy in Lagos state between 1999 – 2007 under the then governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu Ahmed.
Dele Alake started his career as a journalist when he served at the Ogun state broadcasting corporation (OGBC) during his NYSC service year.
Dele Alake attended the university of Lagos, and graduated with a degree in Political science before also completing his Master’s degree in Mass Communications from the same university.

Dele Alake was born on the 6th of October 1956. Not much information is available on his early family and siblings.

Dele Alake had his primary education at Surulere Baptist primary school, he also attended, Christ’s school Ado Ekiti and obtained his west African senior school certificate.
He obtained the General Certificate of Education in 1974 while pursuing his Higher School Certificate course at the Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos.
He graduated with a degree in Political science from the University of Lagos and also got a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from UNILAG.

Dele Alake started his journalism career when he served at the Ogun state broadcasting corporation (OGBC) during his NYSC service year.
He was appointed as a senior sub-editor at the Lagos state broadcasting corporation and held a few other positions before moving from Broadcast journalism to print journalism.
He joined the Concord press publishers of the Concord group of Newspapers as a writer & editor. Dele Alake became a columnist in the National concord and served in that capacity until 1989.
He was appointed as the editor of Sunday concord and also became the editor of the National concord.

Dele Alake was formerly the confidant/communication adviser of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola and also a commissioner for information & strategy in Lagos state between 1999 – 2007 under the then governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu Ahmed.
In 2014, he was appointed as the director of Media & communication of the Buhari campaign organization to help Muhammadu Buhari to victory in the 2015 election.
Alake revealed his intention to contest the senatorial seat of Ekiti central in Ekiti state, but later withdrew.

He was a former chairman Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation Chapel of the N.U.J and is currently a Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (E.N.G.E).
