The Dark Knight Rises Actors Reunite At NYCC For Venom 3

Two cast members from The Dark Knight Rises enjoyed a Sony’s Spider-Man Universe reunion at the panel for Venom: The Last Dance at this year’s New York Comic-Con. The Dark Knight Rises was the final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, released in 2012. It featured Tom Hardy’s Bane as the arch-villain, vastly improving on the last live-action adaptation of the character in Batman & Robin, while Anne Hathaway gave a standard-setting performance as Selina Kyle. Juno Temple, meanwhile, played a minor role as Kyle’s friend and roommate, Jen.

Tom Hardy and Juno Temple are also starring in Venom: The Last Dance, and when host Josh Horowitz brought up the fact that the panel was a reunion for the two Batman franchise actors, Temple said to Hardy “You wouldn’t remember because we didn’t work together.” Juno Temple is portraying Dr. Payne in Venom: The Last Dance, who may be an adaptation of Marvel Comics’ Dr. Paine – a sadistic doctor and enemy of Eddie Brock. This presumably means the two will share screen time together, as Temple’s Dr. Payne works alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character to hunt Venom on Earth.

Jen And Bane Shared No Scenes In The Dark Knight Rises

Tom Hardy had the unenviable task of becoming the next arch-villain in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, following Heath Ledger’s iconic Joker in The Dark Knight. He did, however, play an excellent rendition of Bane, with a more comic-accurate portrayal of his intelligence and hulking physicality. Juno Temple’s Jen, meanwhile, operates as a petty thief alongside Catwoman, jumping at any opportunity to purloin valuables from Gotham’s elite. Like Selina Kyle, Jen is not so much a villain as a morally gray rogue.

Temple’s Jen may have been an adaptation of DC Comics’ Holly Robinson, who is also Selina Kyle’s roommate and partner in crime.

Tom Hardy’s Bane shared plenty of screen time with Christian Bale’s Batman, which stands to reason given he was the main antagonist. Juno Temple’s Jen, meanwhile, was closest with Selina Kyle as her partner in crime, though did not appear in half as many scenes. This meant that Jen and Bane did not interact at all throughout The Dark Knight Rises, with Jen’s penchant for petty thievery leaving little reason for her to share a scene with the ideological and austere Bane. Jen did, however, seem to enjoy the fruits of Bane’s temporary takeover of Gotham and its newfound lawlessness.

It’s Not Unusual For Actors To Never Cross Paths On The Same Movie

Assuming the two will share some antagonistic screen time together in Venom: The Last Dance, it will be great to see Temple and Hardy interacting as both are exceptionally talented actors. Still, it would have felt slightly out of place for them to have interacted in The Dark Knight Rises. Given Venom: The Last Dance may be where Eddie Brock dies, this may be the last time we get to see them interact at all.

It goes to show how sprawling the blockbuster was and suggests that Hardy, despite being a main character, did not work with plenty of other actors in the movie.

It isn’t uncommon for two actors who starred in the same movie to have never crossed paths. Elizabeth Olsen, for example, asserts that she’s never met John Krasinski, despite the two ostensibly sharing a scene in the MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It goes to show how sprawling the blockbuster was and suggests that Hardy, despite being a main character, did not work with plenty of other actors in the movie. This seems less likely in Venom: The Last Dance, given the nature of Dr. Payne and Venom’s relationship.

Venom 3 is the third and final installment in Sony’s symbiote trilogy starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. It follows the events of Let There Be Carnage, where the anti-hero fought serial killer Cletus Kasady, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Brock was briefly transported to the MCU through the multiverse.
