The upcoming horror movie Drop has been given a release date. Drop is a horror movie directed by Christopher Landon, who is known for works such as Happy Death Day and Freaky. In addition to director Landon, Drop‘s creative team includes Jillian Jacobs and Christopher Roach as screenwriters and Michael Bay and Jason Blum as producers. Drop‘s main cast includes Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, Ed Weeks, Travis Nelson, Jeffrey Self, Gabrielle Ryan, and Fiona Browne.
As per Collider, Drop has now revealed its release date along with other key info. Drop will be released in theaters on April 11, 2025. Blumhouse also revealed the first synopsis and poster for the film. According to the synopsis, Fahy plays “Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, who arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry is more charming and handsome than she expected.” This initial dating success falters when Violet is “terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.” Check out the full synopsis below:
“Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy, breakout star of White Lotus and The Perfect Couple, plays Violet, a widowed mother on her first date in years, who arrives at an upscale restaurant where she is relieved that her date, Henry (It Ends with Us’ Brandon Sklenar) is more charming and handsome than she expected. But their chemistry begins to curdle as Violet begins being irritated and then terrorized by a series of anonymous drops to her phone.
She is instructed to tell nobody and follow instructions or the hooded figure she sees on her home security cameras will kill Violet’s young son and babysitting sister. Violet must do exactly as directed or everyone she loves will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.”

Blumhouse Will Have A Lot Of Momentum Next Year
The first information for Drop sets up an enticing premise for the Fahy-led horror film. According to the synopsis, the film will have incredibly high stakes for Violet, as an “unseen tormentor” wishes to kill Henry, with whom she is just starting to develop a relationship. Still, a lot remains mysterious about Drop. The poster shows Fahy’s concerned eyes, but does not reveal the subject of her gaze. Who is giving these drops to Violet’s phone could become the most interesting element to Drop.

Drop‘s 2025 release date will put the film in an incredibly busy year for Blumhouse. To kick off 2025, the horror studio is releasing Wolf Man, which is set for release on January 17, 2025. In March, the release The Woman in the Yard. Drop‘s April 2025 release date puts it in between this film and M3GAN 2.0, the latter of which is a hugely anticipated Blumhouse sequel. If successful, Drop‘s release will be vital to help keep the Blumhouse momentum going.
2025 Could Be Blumhouse’s Best Year In A While
Familiar Blumhouse Directors Will Return
What excites me about this Blumhouse slate more than anything is the fact that it will see the return of multiple key Blumhouse directors. This includes Drop‘s Landon, who has worked with the distributor before, but he is not the only one coming back to Blumhouse. Wolf Man, for instance, is directed by Leigh Whannell, who previously helmed the 2020 remake of The Invisible Man. Upcoming sequel The Black Phone 2 will also see the return of Scott Derrickson. This strong directing slate makes me confident that 2025 could be one of the best years Blumhouse has had in a while.
