Yoruba People – Ethnic Group

The Yoruba people are an ethnic group primarily located in southwestern Nigeria, as well as in neighboring countries such as Benin and Togo. They have a rich cultural heritage and are one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa, with a population of over 40 million people.

The Yoruba have a long history that predates the colonization of Nigeria. They have a well-established tradition of governance, with various kingdoms and city-states that thrived before the arrival of Europeans. The Empire of OYO Kingdom happened to be one of the most prominent and powerful Yoruba kingdoms, it was known for its advanced political and administrative systems.

They are renowned for their artistic skills, particularly in sculpture, pottery, weaving, and beadwork.
