Baba Ijesha Pleads Post-Conviction Release In Court

Olanrewaju James, a controversial Nollywood actor, has requested post-conviction release from the Ikeja Domestic and Sexual Violence Court until his appeal is heard and decided by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo had already sentenced Baba Ijesha to 16 years in prison in July For child molestation.

The Lagos State Government filed six counts of accusations against Baba Ijesha. He was found guilty on four of them.

The jailed actor was found guilty of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, sexual assault, and defiling a child.

He was sentenced to five years in prison, which he is currently serving concurrently.

Baba Ijesha makes an effort to leave jail. On September 14, 2022, Baba Ijesha appeared in court and requested the suspension of the sentence awaiting an appeal once more.

Chukwudi Adiukwu informed the court that they had submitted an application for bail awaiting appeal in accordance with Section 6 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, during the proceedings.

Section 51 of the Lagos State 2015 Administration of Criminal Justice Law, according to Adiukwu, gives the court the authority to grant the applicant’s bail, either unconditionally or subject to reasonable restrictions. He said that approving their application would advance justice.
