Bright Okpocha, popularly known by his stage name as Basketmouth, has challenged the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, over the slim chance of conviction for politically exposed persons in the country.

Basketmouth is making this claim after two recent protests by the youths in Ibadan and Warri over the arrests of suspected internet fraudsters by the EFCC in both cities.

Responding to the protests, the EFCC announced that the exercise would not stop the agency from arresting anyone causing or promoting fraud in the country.

Basketmouth, through his Instagram page, said: “Great! This is awesome news, and I support it, but what about the ones that caused economic disaster? They’re walking freely in that same Abuja. Charity begins at home, is all I’m saying.”

The comedian also shared screenshots of past events in which the EFCC failed to hold public officeholders accountable for financial crimes.

The first shared screenshot reads: “NDDC Acting MD, Pondei shuns Reps over alleged misuse of N39b.”

However, he advised the government, “I suggest we build a few animal prisons. Their own is too much”.
